2) The mother really shouldn't have been allowed back into Christopher's life. Highly recommend this book. Thorougly enjoyable, and humorous, too. Couldn't put it down, and it gave me insight into an autistic mind. Full disclosure: I am sick to death of all the books about autism out there, and I'm tired of having it crammed down my throat. I was surprised at how much I loved this book, and how engaging it was. To find this book, though, was a pleasant surprise. Spoiler alert: 2 things I didn't like: 1) The main character was annoying by the end, and truly "only thinks about himself," as one character points out.
I found it hard to relate to the characters as it was a bit extreme. Not a book of my taste. It was just a bit slow and a bit to easy of a read for me. I also found it to be very unrealistic and I don't think that the author put too much thought into how this kids life would REALLY be like or what he would ACTUALLY be thinking.
About half of the chapters are descriptions of his surroundings or past memories that don't move the plot forward and sometimes happen right in the thick of things but are very interesting. Short novel, but surprisingly moving. He loves reading Shirlock Holmes and decides to write a murder mystery novel about "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."The novel is meant to be written by Christopher (our main character) as he searches for clues to the mystery. Until one night he finds a dog that has just been killed. It is told in first person from the point of view of an autistic teen. This novel is unlike any I have read before. He lives in a town in England and confines himself to a strict routine. He loves prime numbers so the chapters are each assigned one.
it is a must read that is almost impossible to put down. this book is one of my favorite books of all time. i love it, the characters are awe-inspiring and the writing material is great.
Suitable for any age group. Really well done involving story. Anyone who deals with autistic/Aspergers or other perception "disorders" would find this interesting and valuable.
